Genre Graph

Okay, so one more thing. Here is the beginning of our genre graph. It is far from extensive, so put comments up on what you would like added and I will attempt to update it (assuming my computer and I agree).

While no story will fit perfectly into one of these boxes, it is important to have an idea of the vocabulary so that we can describe our writing. Cheers.

Not that all of these need to be included; I doubt most of us will be writing Plantation fiction or whatever. I do still take umbrage with "magical realism" as a common term; I think a better term would be "low fantasy" for most people who want to write about magical things happening in a realistic setting. Is the distinction really a huge deal? Probably not, just in our setting. But many publishers and academics will think of the Latin American movement first when they hear the phrase "magical realism" rather than Harry Potter, which is why I harp on it.
